About MichÈle

My love for animals began at a very young age, which I started to follow with work experience age 15 at Drusillas zoo in Sussex. I however ended up following a career in Human Physiotherapy. For me it has never exclusively been one type of animal that I love and am neither a “cat person” nor a “dog person”, but am intrigued by the communication of all…including us primates.

However, I do have a special affinity for wolves and therefore their brethren that live with us and our dogs. One of my current dogs, Shaylah the Rottweiler, took on the “teacher role” having suffered serious allergies, elbow dysplasia and a serious bout of sciatica. After 27 years as a human physiotherapist, as a cranio sacral therapist & chi kung instructor I decided to bring my acquired skills learnt through having treated thousands of people to canine myotherapy. I now have a diploma in canine myotherapy, supported by continued professional development.

The Wolfsong Approach

The session is carried out at your home, on a mat on the floor and is totally dog led. No treatment will be forced on your dog. There is a continual communication between dog and therapist, through the eyes, head carriage, ear position, licking of lips, body positioning & many other signals.

The owner is asked to be present because often the dog will also need to communicate with the one they most trust. Trust is the initial first step for Wolfsong Myotherapy and then quite amazingly your dog will help guide the session, which, in conjunction with my skills as a therapist, can lead to positive results in just a few sessions. The assessment involves a combination of visual assessment of posture & gait with a highly tuned palpation technique particular to Wolfsong Myotherapy. This will highlight particular areas of tension & dysfunction whether that be due to areas of a more acute nature or chronic areas of compensation.

Treatment is through a number of different myotherapy and fascial techniques with advice on home care & exercise. As a complementary therapy, we are not allowed to diagnose, but this is not necessary to help generate a musculoskeletal balance in your dog’s posture.
